Richard Ash APFS DipPFS

Richard Ash is a Founding Partner and Director of Liberty Partnership. He is a Chartered Financial Planner who has worked with many of his clients for over 20 years providing advice on Pensions, Investments and Estate Planning. Richard loves to work with people who share his positive outlook on life and believes that the most rewarding client relationships are those that are continued over the long term.

Richard is also an affiliate of the Society of Trust and Estate Planning Practitioners, A member of The Society of Will Writers and he holds the Chartered Insurance Institute CF8 qualification in Long Term Care Planning. He is extremely knowledgeable in Estate Planning including Inheritance Tax, Wills, Trusts and Attorney Matters.

Away from work Richard lives with his partner Sam and their children, family is hugely important to him, as is living in the Deepings where he has lived all his life.

Spare time is at a premium and is largely dedicated to additional study. When the opportunity presents itself he enjoys going to the gym, spending time in his garden, riding his bike and a very occasional round of golf.

Richard Ash

David Gregg APFS DipPFS

David Gregg is a Founding Partner and Director of Liberty Partnership, a Chartered Financial Planner and an affiliate of the Society of Trust and Estate Planning Practitioners.

David is qualified to cover all areas of financial planning and holds advanced qualifications in Pensions, Investment planning, Long Term Care, Taxation and Trusts.

David enjoys working closely with local professionals. He advises local Accountants on Auto Enrolment and Employee Benefit programs, as well as Shareholder Protection and Key Man insurance.

He is trusted by a number of Solicitors who refer their clients to him for advice on the division of pension assets and pension sharing orders in divorce.

David’s style is to engage with his clients and their families to fully understand their needs and objectives. He believes that building a relationship with both the client and their connections delivers the best results for the people who he works with.

David is married to Krissi and they have three young children. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and keeping fit.

Matthew Biggs DipPFS

Matthew joined Liberty Partnership in October 2017. Since joining our team he has developed from a Trainee Paraplanner to a fully fledged Financial Planner, after he earned his Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in May 2019.

Matthew is able to assist clients in all aspects of financial planning, from Pensions and Investments through to Protection and Estate Planning. He understands and appreciates the importance of developing a strong and trusting relationship with clients. Matthew truly believes the best part of the job is to be able to help and support clients, both new and existing, through the sometimes challenging environment of personal finance.

Matthew is ambitious, he is studying advanced qualifications, having passed two already, with the aim of becoming the newest Chartered Financial Planner within the business.

Born and bred in The Deepings, Matthew is passionate about the local area and enjoys being able to feel part of the community. He lives in Market Deeping with his fiancée, Abi and their Beagle, Albie.

In his spare time, he enjoys going for long walks with Abi & Albie and spending time with his other loves – Leyton Orient Football Club and Saracens Rugby Club. Watching both teams is a hobby he enjoys with his twin brother, James.

Joseph Ash DipPFS CertCII (MP)

Joseph Ash joined the team at Liberty Partnership in 2018. Having previously held the role of Mortgage Adviser within the business he developed into a Financial Planner after having earned his Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in March 2023.

Joseph comes from a retail banking background having previously primarily dealt with mortgage clients, giving him a combined 9 years’ experience in the financial sector.

Joseph places high importance on building long lasting relationships with his clients by ensuring they get the right recommendation for their individual circumstances.

Outside of the office Joseph lives in Barnack on the outskirts of Stamford with his Fiancée Joanne, his twin boys Oliver & Arthur and his dog Percy. He enjoys keeping fit, cooking and skiing.

Brian Spellar DipPFS CertCII (MP)

Brian Spellar is a very experienced and knowledgeable Financial Planner who joined the team at Liberty Partnership in 2009. He has worked in financial services for over 28 years. Prior to his time with Liberty Partnership Brian worked in management with American International Group (AIG) and more recently owned his own financial services company.

Brian’s approach is to build long term relationships with both corporate and private clients. He is qualified to cover all areas of financial planning including Pensions, Investments – Onshore and Offshore, Corporate Protection, Taxation and Trusts.

Brian is highly regarded by his corporate clients and has also successfully linked in with many other professionals including tax specialists, solicitors and accountancy firms. His own technical expertise is in corporate planning including Shareholder Protection, Auto Enrolment, Group Personal Pensions, Self-Invested Pension Plans (SIPP) and Small Self-Administered Schemes (SSAS).

Mark Russon DipPFS Cert CII (MP)

Mark Russon is highly regarded by colleagues and clients of Liberty Partnership as a Financial Planner who has considerable experience in all aspects of Pension and Investment strategies.

Mark very much concentrates on the relationship that he has with his clients and their families. He acknowledges that the world of financial services is often complicated and he will spend as much time as is necessary so that his clients have a clear understanding of any recommendations made in terms that they understand.

Mark is a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and the Personal Finance Society (PFS) and holds the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning. He also holds additional qualifications in Long Term Care, awarded by the Chartered Insurance Institute, enabling him to advise comprehensively on Long Term Care needs. He is continuing with his studies to keep up with the ever changing financial and economic environment.

Jo Stark F.Inst.Pa Paralegal

Jo is one of our qualified Paralegals and is our Estate Planning Manager at Liberty Estate Planning. Liberty Estate Planning provides guidance and documents relating to Wills, Lasting Power of Attorney documents and Trusts.  Jo is very caring and knowledgeable and has exactly the right approach to this often emotional area of planning.

Laura Whatling TEP

Laura joined the team in 2022 as our Probate Manager, having recently completed the STEP Diploma in Trusts and Estates. Laura will be working alongside our Estate Planning Manager, Jo Stark. Together they will be able to help guide you through all matters relating to Estate Planning.  In her spare time, Laura enjoys attending various dance classes, as well as teaching children Ballet & Contemporary Dance.
